CPR’s work in the health area includes helping to develop and assess mechanisms to promote voluntary paternity acknowledgement in hospital settings, assessing the effectiveness of sexual assault prevention programs to youth and adolescents in residential care facilities, evaluating the benefits of providing medical screenings and treatment for battered women and their children in a shelter setting, and analyzing trends in the regulation of health care services to consumers. CPR is currently working with Colorado to improve health insurance coverage among children in the child support system including developing procedures to determine whether employer-provided health insurance is available at a reasonable cost and extending coverage for children through Medicaid and SCHIP when private health insurance coverage is not available.
